Jon combines long experience of software engineering with deep knowledge of the investment management business to deliver process improvements to some of the world’s largest asset owners and asset managers.
He was previously Professor of Practice in the Finance group at Warwick Business School where he taught applications of technology to finance at Masters’ level. Before that, he was a managing director with BlackRock and Barclays Global Investors (both investment management companies).
He is a highly experienced leader of top-class software project teams in the field of quantitative asset management. He holds a CFA charter, an MBA in Technology Management, and a Master’s degree in Mathematics from Cambridge University.
Sean is a software professional with deep expertise in front office portfolio management and trading systems. He is experienced in all aspects of the software development cycle, including business analysis, design, programming, project management, and budget control.
He has developed software professionally since 1998 and has been a leader of software development teams since 2005, managing and delivering on global projects for top-tier asset management businesses.
His software experience is complemented by an in-depth understanding of investment process and he holds the Investment Management Certificate of the CFA Society of the UK. He also holds a Master’s degree in Software Engineering (with distinction) and a BA (Hons) in Sport and Recreation Studies.
Elena is a fund management professional with over 14 years of industry experience in passive equity funds, ETFs, alternative indexation, smart beta and ESG.
Elena previously led the Responsible Finance project at HSBC Global Asset Management, and before that was a Portfolio Manager for Blackrock/iShares responsible for managing $4bn+ ETFs/Index fund ranges. She has a special interest in embedding sustainability principles and metrics into the core of the investment process.
Elena holds a BA in Business Economics from Middlesex University, an MSc in Investment Management from Cass Business School and an MSt in Sustainability Leadership from Cambridge University.
Paul Rowbotham fulfils the role of Chief Operating Officer at Ryedale, encompassing financial and HR management.
He is a chartered accountant (CIMA – prize winner), holds a Master’s degree in Physics from Cambridge University and studied Finance and Banking at Villanova University in Philadelphia.
After spells as a systems accountant at various FTSE-100 companies, he co-founded an SAP consulting business in 2008, taking on roles as Director, Finance Director, system architect and project manager. He sold his share in this business in 2016 and, after a brief period of semi-retirement, joined Ryedale in September 2016.
